—>The night is complete with Bauhaus-inspired movies on the patio at sundown, including the vampire-classic “The Hunger,” a compilation of Bauhaus’ music videos called “Shadow of Light,” “Return of the Living Dead,” and (XXfingers crossed XX) some I Luv Video Classics featuring goth rockers and Bela Lugosi, of course!
PART 2: Mis-anthropy - a night of power electronics, ‘difficult music’ and audio-visual alienation. A limited edition FREE Misanthrophy ‘zine will be given out.
—>“What is called music today is all too often only a disguise for the monologue of power. However, and this is the supreme irony of it all, never before have musicians tried so hard to communicate with their audience, and never before has that communication been so deceiving. Music now seems hardly more than a somewhat clumsy excuse for the self-glorification of musicians and the growth of a new industrial sector.”
-Jacques Attali, Noise: The Political Economy of Music (1985)
—MOVIES ON THE PATIO COME SUNDOWN, MUSIC THE ENTIRE NIGHT, CUPCAKES and ZINES FOR THE LUCKY. A GOOD, DARK TIME FOR ALL.

In the annex gallery, the Mexic-Arte Museum presents new works by Miguel Aragón. Originally from Ciudad Juarez Mexico, Aragón is an MFA graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin specializing in traditional, technological, and experimental printmaking. Aragón’s current series explores images from Mexican newspaper clippings and photographs chronicling the ongoing drug-related violence. Using a conceptual framework of reduction, trauma, and erasure Aragón parallels his artistic process with the experiences of those directly affected by the ongoing violence.
